These are probably the most valuable things I'm taking to Hawaii. I call them my Kona Tokens.
Over the last year, this project has introduced me to some incredible people. People I've trained with, raced with, had coffee with, shared stories with. People who've encouraged me, and let me encourage them back.
Where the tokens came from
Somewhere along the way, people started giving me little things to take with me to Kona. Not because they're valuable, but because they represent the people who've become part of this journey.
So now I've got a little Lego figure, a triathlon club t-shirt from Wales, a first Ironman wristband, a race timing chip strap, a Formula One collector's card, a fridge magnet from Brazil, a swim cap from Germany, and an Ironman Foundation wristband. Every single one has a story. Every single one reminds me of somebody who's helped me get one step closer to this dream.
When I finally get to Kona, every one of these is coming with me. And if we ever meet, whether that's to train together, race together, or just catch up for a coffee, and you want something to make the journey with me, I'd be honoured to carry it all the way to the Big Island.
