Was A Professional Bike Fit Worth It?

I thought my position was already pretty good. A few hours with Matt Bottrill later, we'd changed more than I expected.

It wasn't one big change

The biggest surprise wasn't one major adjustment, it was a string of small ones that all added up. New cockpit, back end tweaks, tiny changes to the position that on their own wouldn't mean much but together changed how the whole bike felt.

I'm more comfortable. More stable. I can hold the aero position longer than before. And even at the same power, it feels easier — the pedalling's just more efficient now.

Whether any of that makes me faster over 180km, I genuinely don't know yet. That's the part I can't answer from a fitting room. But was it worth it? For me, absolutely.
