My Race Bike Setup

My Race Bike Setup

Kit · September 3, 2026

I walked through the full bike setup back in February. Since then I've chased a bit more speed out of the position - here's where it all stands now.

Frame's still the same - a Giant Trinity, medium, built and fitted for me. That part hasn't changed and never will. Drivetrain's the same too - full SRAM Force groupset, electronic shifting, a power meter on the crank, because I'd still rather control effort than chase numbers. Wheels and tyres are unchanged as well - Parcours wheels, Continental 5000 STRs. Reliability over marginal gains, same as ever.

What's actually changed

The front end is what's different. New Drag2Zero .55 aerobars and new arm rests mean I can stretch out further, get lower, and hold a genuinely more aggressive position than before. This is where most of the speed's actually come from.

I've dropped the seat slightly too, which sounds minor but it's changed how I put power down - more efficient through the stroke.

Storage's finally sorted as well. Remember I said I was still figuring that out? There's an EZGains mount on the back with an aero fin now, so it's not just carrying stuff, it's helping the aerodynamics too. Topped it all off with a MET Drone Wide Body II - a proper TT helmet.

Feels like a different bike to ride now, even though most of it's actually the same. The position's the difference. Now it just needs legs that can hold it for 180km.
